CHARLOTTE ''' Mr. Munn, 86, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on March 23, 2014 at Royal Park of Matthews. Born April 12, 1927 in Sumter, SC, he was the son of the late Albert Rogers Munn and Ruth Alice Lupo. He graduated from Columbia High School in 1944, then served a year in the Navy in WWII. After being honorably discharged in 1946 he attended the University of South Carolina, graduating in 1950 with an AB in Journalism, and was honored as one of the "10 Outstanding Seniors" for academics. CHARLOTTE ''' Mr. Munn, 86, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on March 23, 2014 at Royal Park of Matthews. Born April 12, 1927 in Sumter, SC, he was the son of the late Albert Rogers Munn and Ruth Alice Lupo. He graduated from Columbia High School in 1944, then served a year in the Navy in WWII. After being honorably discharged in 1946 he attended the University of South Carolina, graduating in 1950 with an AB in Journalism, and was honored as one of the "10 Outstanding Seniors" for academics. While at USC, he Lettered in Varsity Basketball, was a Sigma Chi fraternity brother, President of the Journalism fraternity, Editor of the literary magazine, won a collegiate award for Outstanding Short Story, plus membership in other collegiate organizations. After graduation, he created and published the "All-South Carolina Football Annual", and "The Atlantic Coast Conference Football Annual." He also became a member of the USC Lettermen's Club.

After college, he worked for WBT from 1954-1957, then joined WSOC-TV for 17 years and became Sales Manager. In 1974, he left television to purchase and operate radio station WIST. After selling the station five years later, he returned to TV and formed Munn & Associates BusinessLink, Inc., which produced live satellite broadcasting for national networks and major corporations. Recently, he wrote and published the diary of his brother, Dalton Leslie Munn, who was lost at sea in WWII.

He was an officer in the Charlotte Jaycees, Sales & Marketing Executives, Ad Club, Charlotte Athletic Club, and other organizations. For many years he was a member of Carmel Country Club and Owenby Sunday School class. He regularly attended Myers Park United Methodist Church for 60 years. His enthusiasm for sports won him multiple awards for swimming, basketball, golf and bowling.

Mr. Munn is survived by his wife of 60 years, Patricia Eastburn Munn; daughters, Melinda Rose and husband Alan (Charlotte), and Patricia Ruth Munn (Charlotte); sons, Albert Rogers Munn, III "Dal" and wife Lisa DeJarnette (Raleigh), Charles Leslie Munn (Nashville, TN) and Scott Brooker Munn (Boulder, CO); grandchildren, Jerome Hoke Singleton (Charlotte), Alaine Munn Jacobs and husband Michael (High Point), Satie Rachael Munn (Chapel Hill), James Leslie Munn and Charlotte Ellen Munn (Nashville, TN); and great-grandson, Graham Robb Singleton. He's also survived by brother, Roger Munn and wife Monica (Monkton, MD); sisters, Eleanor Packard (Stewartstown, PA), Marian Griffin and husband Mike (Timonium, MD), and Frances Roberts (Sparks, MD); and nephew, Robert Trobaugh and wife Mary Nell (Hampton Cove, AL). He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

A memorial service to honor Mr. Munn will be held at Myers Park United Methodist Church at 2:00 pm, Saturday, March 29, 2014. The family will receive friends following the service in Jubilee Hall.
