Charlotte - Ms. Bumgardner, 68, passed away on March 24, 2015 at her home. She was born on November 9, 1946 in Charlotte, NC to Rose McDowell Senn and the late Laurence Vaughn Senn.

Elaine was a loving mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Elaine recently retired from the Public Defender's Office of Mecklenburg County after many years of service. She was "Gammie" to her two grandsons, Andrew and Jacob. She was an animal lover in the truest sense of the word. Elaine enjoyed bird watching and traveling with her longtime special friend,...

Charlotte - Ms. Bumgardner, 68, passed away on March 24, 2015 at her home. She was born on November 9, 1946 in Charlotte, NC to Rose McDowell Senn and the late Laurence Vaughn Senn.

Elaine was a loving mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Elaine recently retired from the Public Defender's Office of Mecklenburg County after many years of service. She was "Gammie" to her two grandsons, Andrew and Jacob. She was an animal lover in the truest sense of the word. Elaine enjoyed bird watching and traveling with her longtime special friend, Freddy. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Elaine is survived by daughter, Alice Bumgardner of Charlotte and friend Billy Webb; daughter, Linda Deerman and husband Jeff of Huntsville, AL; and two grandsons, Andrew and Jacob; mother, Rose Senn of Charlotte; brother, Laurence V. Senn, Jr. and wife Katherine of Palm City, FL; nieces, Laurie Senn Zimmermann (husband Bart) of NJ and Robin Senn Urbanski (husband Myles) of VT; special friend, Freddy Vichesky of Charlotte; and cousins, Barbara Hurt Sharp and Linda Hurt Hester, both of Columbia, SC.

The funeral service will be held at 2 pm Friday, March 27th, in the Terry Chapel at Dilworth United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 1:00-1:45 pm prior to the service. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn West Cemetery.
