Mrs. Hodgin, of Charlotte, was born and raised in Winston-Salem, NC. She was the daughter of the late Clarence Wilmot Rawlings and Eva Tise Rawlings. Following graduation from R.J. Reynolds High School, she completed her education at Salem College.

In Charlotte, she was a long-time member of Myers Park Baptist Church, and a former member of Carmel Country Club, where she enjoyed many hours playing bridge.

At the time of her passing, she was a resident of Carrington Place in Matthews. Martha was attended to by a very loving and caring staff at Carrington Place, and they have the family's utmost support and appreciation.

Mrs. Hodgin is survived by her daughter, Evelyn Hodgin Tolson, and son, William Edward Hodgin, both of Charlotte. Also surviving are grandchildren: Laura Elizabeth Tolson of Oregon, D. Gray Tolson (Christa) of Asheville, four great-grandsons and several nieces and nephews, notably Willis C. (Bill) Hodgin, Jr. of Charlotte.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Robert Reynolds Hodgin; husband, Lyman Edward (Burl) Hodgin; older brother, C.W. Rawlings, Jr.; twin brother, William H. Rawlings; and younger sister, Nancy Rawlings Baity.

The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that memorials gifts be given to a charity of the donor's choice. Graveside services will be private.
